Ghostbusters Trailer Review

Well guys, the wait is over Ghostbusters is back! Yes it’s not the Ghostbusters sequel which never seemed to leave development hell we wanted but would you really want a Ghostbusters III without Harold Ramis not only as one of the key Actors but also as an writer? But it has to be said a franchise reboot with an all female cast was an announcement in which we were all scratching our heads. However we now have our first Official Trailer but has it really put our minds at ease?

So by now we know that our new lineup of Ghostbusters are Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mckinnon and Leslie Jones and apparently none of these actresses are playing the descendants of the iconic Ghostbusters from 1984 and from what we can gather from the footage there is no trace of the events of the original Ghostbusters happening (Except from the titles at the start of the trailer explaining the events of 30 years ago), these Ghostbusters are building there own equipment, modifying there own cars and most importantly busting ghosts!

Although the trailer isn’t giving too much of a plot away, which maybe for the better in a lot of ways we can gather that this reboot is going to follow closely to the original but with perhaps a new range of characters differing in a lot of ways from the original cast we all know and love. In this trailer we’ve got clips of the characters making jokes (Not all of them great, but hey who’d buy a cow if your giving the milk away for free) but also a look at how the ghosts are going to look this time around and it has to be said they look incredible.

However, it has to be said that for a first trailer it had very lengthy cuts of scenes in the film for example the end scene where Melissa McCarthy was possessed definitely was too much, perhaps a quick glimpse of that would have been an improvement? Also we really didn’t need to see those titles at the start especially seen as this will have no connection to what happened in the original Ghostbusters movie.

To wrap things up, this trailer has definitely eased my mind about how the franchise reboot would be and has even made me interested in seeing the film and i’m sure this will start a new fanbase for Ghostbusters as Paul Feig generally has good track record with the Summer Box Office and without a doubt this film will attract the Pitch Perfect audience, but is this enough to swing the die hard fans or even enough to create a franchise? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Ghostbusters will be released July 15th 2016.
